Facebook Ads Bigger Than Google Adwords

Publisert av Sigve Kommedalden 22. February 2010 0

In a very short span of time, Facebook (FB) has gained tremendous popularity, the world over. Almost everyone, web savvy or not is on Facebook and why not?

Facebook has revolutionised the way people interact and keep in touch with one another. Right from families and friends to colleagues and casual acquaintances, FB makes it possible to connect with people in real time, on a day to day, minute by minute basis.

However, Facebook is not just limited to Friends’ Lists. It is packed with a number of different tools that enable members to market themselves and their businesses well. Facebook Advertising is a good case in point!

Though there are conflicting views about this, many people feel that Facebook ads do a better job at targeting online audiences and are more effective than Google Adwords!

Given the tremendous pace at which the Facebook user base is constantly growing, it won’t be a surprise if Facebook ads will soon begin to challenge the online advertising dominance that has up till now been enjoyed by Google!

Let’s take a look at some of the factors that may contribute to this change:

  • More and more people are joining Facebook every day, all across the globe, thus adding to its list of several hundred million users.
  • The large user base spends several hours on Facebook.
  • Facebook’s Ad design interface is clutter-free and easy to use.
  • Facebook ads can be targeted closely to its members based on such factors as age, education, gender, location, marital status, hobbies, etc. This is the information that is provided voluntarily by registered users.
  • Facebook estimates the number of users you can target with your ads based on different factors.
  • Facebook knows who its members are and is aware of its user’s preferences. Such specific information enables Facebook to offer advertisers the flexibility and benefit of serving their audiences highly customised and well targeted advertisements.
  • Facebook makes it possible to serve the most relevant ads to people based on their interests, thus improving the chances of arousing their curiosity in these ads.
  • Facebook provides detailed Advertising Reports which help advertisers to understand how well their ads are performing. They can then make the required changes and check the improvements.
  • Competition on Facebook may still be lower than on Google Adwords.

Google has spent many years perfecting its Adsense and Adwords tools. Despite that, it has been seen that Facebook ads and advertising on Facebook is definitely catching up and may even become much bigger than Google Adwords.

Whether or not Facebook ads will actually outshine Google Adwords is something we must all be willing to wait and watch. As they say, only time will tell!

Google Adwords – Advertisers Dream

Publisert av Sigve Kommedalden 26. December 2009 0

Gone are the days when one could rely solely on the traditional means of advertising to reach their target customers and push sales. With the growth of internet and its increased usage, more and more businesses are moving to the online world to tap its vast advertising potential and reach out to a large customer base of online visitors. If you are a web marketer with a product or service to sell, you can surely benefit from Google Adwords.

What is Google Adwords?
Google Adwords refers to the advertising program offered by Google. By creating an account with Google Adwords, you can start advertising your product or service on Google and its advertising network.
How Does Google Adwords Work?
The concept behind Google Adwords is simple. However, to understand Google Adwords and its benefits, we must first briefly talk about how Google Search works.

A vast number of online web searchers use Google Search to look for information on a wide variety of topics, including products and services. Google searches through its large database of websites, blogs, documents and other resources to provide the most relevant search results based on the queries typed into the Google Search Box. This is a very powerful tool and cannot be influenced in any manner as Google uses its smart technology to judge the most genuine source of information for its users based on the quality, freshness and relevancy of the websites and web resources.

However, in addition to these organic search results, Google also displays something known as ‘Sponsored Links’ or paid-for-listings on the right hand side of the search results page and sometimes just above the regular search results. These are ads by advertisers who have chosen to use the power of Google advertising to promote their products and target potential customers.

Flexibility, Benefits & Control Offered by Google Adwords to Advertisers
Designing and running your adwords campaign is easy. Work out some of the essential elements and you are all set to reap the benefits of Google Adwords advertising.

Ad Formats: Choose from a variety of ad formats including text ads, image ads, video ads, local business ads and mobile ads.

Keywords & Ad Design: Analyze your business and create a list of most powerful keywords that someone may use to search for your products or services. Using these keywords, design your advertisement with a suitable Headline, Description, Display URL and Destination URL.

Set your Budget: Adwords lets you set a budget for your ads so that you can decide how much you want to spend on your Adwords campaign. What’s more, pay only when people click on your ads!

Once you activate your account, you are all set. The next time someone searches using one of your keywords, Google will display your ad, thus reaching out directly to people who are already searching for you.

The best part about using Google Adwords is that Google lets you have complete control over your advertising campaign and offers many online resources such as the Search Based Keyword Tool to assist you through the entire process.

Google Adsense – Money in the Bank

Publisert av Sigve Kommedalden 25. December 2009 0

If you are a website owner with an internet presence, you must have heard of Google Adsense. However, if there is a slightest chance that you are not 100% sure of its concept and usefulness, this article will put an end to all your doubts!

What is Google Adsense?
Google Adsense refers to the free program offered by Google that enables web publishers to earn revenue from their online existence simply by displaying Google ads on those pages of their website which are rich in content. Since the Adsense program is free to join, almost all website publishers, irrespective of their size and location can sign-up for an Adsense account and start placing targetted ads on the content pages of their websites. What happens next? Publishers start earning through relevant ad clicks or impressions. And the best part – revenues earned at the end of each month ($100 and above) is dispatched to the publisher through cheque payment!

How Does Adsense Work?
The concept behind Google Adsense is simple and direct, aimed at creating a win-win situation for all parties concerned. This includes both the website publishers interested in earning revenue through their good quality websites and advertisers looking to propagate their products and services.

Publishers: Once a website publisher signs-up for a Google Adsense account, he / she gains access to Google’s vast network of advertisers who are interested in advertising their products and services on related, quality websites.

Based on the subject matter of your content pages, Google automatically displays ads on your website which either match the interests of your website visitors or in some way are related to the information your website currently offers. Hence, the moment you login to your Adsense account, generate Google ads and place the resulting code on your web pages, that’s when Google starts displaying relevant and targetted ads on your website.

Revenue Generation through Adsense
Each time your website visitor clicks on one of the ads and visits the advertiser’s website or online resource, you earn! In other words, by implementing Google Adsense on your website/s, you not only earn from genuine click and page impressions; you also enhance the look of your website and offer greater value / resources to your online visitors.

Remember, Google’s technology is extremely smart and can easily track fraudulent clicks. Hence, don’t try to create such a situation under which you get blacklisted by Google.

Ad Customisation: You can customise ads to suit the look and feel of your website. Right from ad size to background color, link and text color etc, all elements of an ad can be tailor-made for a specific site or blog.

Site / Web Search: Under the Google Adsense program, publishers like you can even implement Google web and site search to provide search functionality to your visitors. By placing ads on the search result pages, you can further earn revenue.

Performance Tracking: Through the use of Channels, publishers can track the performance of different ad units, URL’s and even ad placements throughout their website and tweak the ads to improve performances.

If you haven’t already, create your free Adsense account and start earning revenue from your online presence.
